No. 1 Tennessee (24-2, 6-1 SEC) opened a three-game road series Friday with a win at South Carolina (17-10, 1-6 SEC). The Vols defeated South Carolina, 11-7, at Founders Park in Columbia, South Carolina.
Tennessee extended its win streak over the Gamecocks to five games.
The Vols scored eight of their 11 runs with two outs, and seven of Tennessee’s 10 hits also came with two outs in the series opener.
Liam Doyle (4-1) started and pitched 5.2 innings for Tennessee. He recorded 11 strikeouts and 97 pitches (67 strikes).
Dalton Bargo (8) and Hunter Ensley (3) hit home runs for the Vols on Friday. Bargo and Reese Chapman recorded two hits each for Tennessee.
