WATERTOWN — Leadoff hitter Caden Wolfley went a combined 5-for-10 with five runs batted in and a pair of doubles as the Olean Oilers swept the Watertown Rapids in a New York Collegiate Baseball League doubleheader played late into the night at the Duffy Fairgrounds.
Olean won both eight-inning games, 10-4 and 7-3. The second game ended around 11:45 p.m.
The Oilers (12-7-2) pulled ahead in the fifth inning in each game, scoring four runs each time.
In the first game, Josh Wilson hit a first-inning home run for Olean and Owen Smith added a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Smith also pitched the victory, throwing the first four innings, allowing four hits and three runs, one earned.
Aiden Loszynski doubled and drove in two runs for the Rapids and Xavier Myles supplied a run-scoring single.
Connor Haas received the loss, allowing five hits and five runs (three earned) over four innings. He struck out eight and walked three.
In the second game, Wolfley and Wilson each hit run-scoring doubles and Brian Fleming an RBI triple in the fifth inning. Fleming and Hartley Rahman each supplied two hits for Olean.
Ben Hess homered and singled for Watertown (6-13-1), and Loszynski singled in a run. The Rapids managed just four hits against three Olean pitchers.
Watertown plays at home again at 6:30 p.m. today against Rochester.
