Steelers predicted to sign former $2.6 million Pro Bowl quarterback

The Pittsburgh Steelers completely revamped their quarterback room this offseason, letting Russell Wilson and Justin Fields walk in free agency and replacing them with Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, and Will Howard.

Rodgers will start the 2025 campaign with Rudolph and Howard as the backups. However, SportsGrid’s Grant White predicts Pittsburgh will sign quarterback Tyler Huntley in free agency to add some more competition to the position group.

Huntley has been a backup for most of his career, but he does have some starting experience and showed flashes of his dynamic play style during his four-year tenure with the Baltimore Ravens from 2020 to 2023.

The veteran signal-caller spent the 2024 campaign with the Miami Dolphins, starting five games with a 2-3 record while tossing three touchdowns and three interceptions with a 64.7% completion rate.

Bringing in Huntley for cheap to compete with Rudolph for the backup gig would be a solid move by the Steelers. However, the Steelers are likely comfortable with their current quarterback room and won’t add to the group unless they need to do so at some point during training camp.

Huntley could be a potential training camp acquisition for Pittsburgh if Rudolph underwhelms or an injury occurs, but they don’t need the 2022 Pro Bowl quarterback right now.
